Risk Management

⚙️ Input Parameters

  1. Lot Size Mode
    • Definition: Determines how the EA calculates the trading lot size.
    • Options:
      • Fixed lot → Every trade uses the same lot size set in Base Lot.
      • Auto lot → Lot size is adjusted dynamically based on account balance.

  1. Base Lot
    • Definition: The base lot size applied in Fixed lot mode, or used as a multiplier in Auto lot mode.
    • Example: If set to 0.01, every trade will open with 0.01 lot (Fixed lot).
    • Recommendation: Start small (e.g., 0.01–0.05) and scale up only after confirming stable performance.

  1. Account Balance for Auto Lot
    • Definition: Reference balance for scaling lot size in Auto lot mode.
    • Example: If set to 1000:
      • With $1000 balance → EA trades 0.01 lot.
      • With $2000 balance → EA trades 0.02 lot.
    • Purpose: Ensures proportional risk management as the account grows.

  1. Minimum Lot Size
    • Definition: The smallest lot size the EA can open.
    • Purpose: Prevents trades from being too small to be effective.

  1. Maximum Lot Size
    • Definition: The maximum cap for any trade lot size.
    • Purpose: Protects the account from excessive exposure and oversized trades.

Account Protection

⚙️ Input Parameters

  1. Max DD [0 == off]
    • Definition: Sets the maximum drawdown limit (as a percentage of the account balance or equity) at which the EA will stop trading.
    • Example:
      • If set to 20, the EA will stop opening new trades once the account suffers a 20% drawdown.
      • If set to 0, this protection is disabled.
    • Purpose: Protects the trading account from catastrophic losses by enforcing a hard stop on trading activity once the drawdown threshold is reached.
    • Recommendation: Keep between 10–30 depending on your risk tolerance.

🧪 Backtest Guide

⚙️ Default Backtest Settings

  • Base Lot: 0.01
  • Account Balance for Auto Lot: 1000

👉 These default values provide a low-risk setup, ideal for first-time testing and strategy validation.

📈 Increasing Risk

  • To increase risk exposure, adjust:
    • Base Lot0.02
    • Account Balance for Auto Lot → keep unchanged at 1000

👉 This effectively doubles the position size while maintaining the same balance reference, resulting in higher potential profit but also higher risk.

🔀 Lot Size Modes

The EA offers two modes for position sizing:

  1. Fixed Lot
    • Trades with the same lot size every time, regardless of account balance.
    • Best for controlled testing or accounts where you don’t want risk scaling.
  1. Auto Lot
    • Adjusts lot size dynamically based on account balance.
    • Provides proportional risk management as the account grows.

Recommendation:

Start with the default settings to evaluate performance, then gradually adjust lot size mode (Fixed vs. Auto) and Base Lot values according to your risk appetite.

How to Trade with the ABS GoldGrid Bot

Let’s be upfront: the ABS GoldGrid Bot is not a safe trading system. It’s an aggressive scalping bot designed specifically for Gold (XAUUSD), built on a martingale + grid logic.
That means it can deliver rapid profits, but it also carries the risk of blowing up your account in a single bad run.

Does that sound risky? It is. But with the right mindset, it can become a surprisingly effective profit machine.

🔧 How the Bot Works

  • Scans for momentum breakout signals (both long and short).
  • Opens small scalp trades, aiming for quick intraday moves.
  • Adds a martingale grid on top of initial entries.
  • The equity curve looks like this:

The result? A stream of rapid trades that can build profit quickly.
But because there’s no hard stop loss, a strong one-sided Gold trend can put the account in serious danger.

⚠️ Important: Use a broker with GMT+3 time zone. The bot’s entries are time-based, and if your broker uses a different server time, the signals won’t line up correctly.

⚠️ The Problem: It Will Blow Up

If you run this bot long enough, your account will eventually crash. That’s the trade-off.

I’ve seen situations where, if trades hadn’t closed on the final tick, the account would have been wiped out. That’s simply the reality with martingale strategies.

So… how do you still make money with it?

💡 The Solution: Deposit Small, Withdraw Often

Here’s the way I handle it:

  1. Never deposit your full capital.
    • For example, if you have $100,000, only allocate $10,000 to the ABS account
  1. Withdraw profits at +25%.
    • When your $10,000 grows by 25% (a $2,500 profit), withdraw immediately.
  1. Restart when it blows up.
    • If the account crashes, no problem—you only lose that $10,000.
    • Start fresh and repeat the cycle.

Those red periods are when the withdrawn profit.
This way, even if the account dies, you’ve already pocketed enough profits along the way to stay ahead.

📊 What This Looks Like in Practice

  • In 2025 so far, I managed 9 profit withdrawals, usually every 1–2 months. Sometimes faster if Gold was moving wild.
  • Example: Starting with $10k, I’ve pulled out $27,500 profit this year.
  • From 2016–2022, the system only crashed once. During that span, there were 29 successful withdrawals totaling $72,500 profit from the same $10k base.
  • Yes, it finally crashed on Feb 24, 2022. But by simply restarting the next day, the strategy continued working.

⚖️ How It Compares to Normal Trading

This is the opposite of how I usually trade.

  • My main approach: Careful, with stop-losses, small risk (0.075% per trade), diversified strategies.
  • ABS GoldGrid: One market (Gold), no stop loss, martingale grid, and the assumption the account will die at some point.

But here’s the trick: instead of trying to “save” the account, I just take as much profit out as possible before the crash happens.

✅ Final Thoughts

If you’re going to use the ABS GoldGrid Bot, go in with the right mindset:

  • ✅ It will blow up one day. Accept it.
  • ✅ Use only a small chunk of your money.
  • ✅ Withdraw profits often, don’t wait.
  • ✅ When it dies, restart the cycle.

Think of it like a goose that lays golden eggs—just make sure you collect the eggs before the goose eventually keels over.
